Putting PR Freelancers in the Spotlight – The Independent Impact 50 Awards
The PR Cavalry
Why The PR Cavalry and Rod Cartwright Consulting are elevating the status of PR Freelancers with The Independent Impact 50.
Freelancing by any measure is a megatrend, not only in PR but across the entire skilled economy.
PR freelancers are increasingly indispensable assets to brand owners and agencies alike but they often operate in the shadows and we believe that must change.
Celebrating the Independent PR Professional
The “Independent Impact 50” celebrates the most impactful freelance and independent PR practitioners in the UK, highlighting their roles in shaping modern communications. These professionals bring a wealth of experience, often honed across various sectors and campaigns, allowing them to offer fresh perspectives and innovative solutions.(PRovoke Media)
The awards event at The Balcony Room at the Swan on London’s South Bank was a joyous celebration of what it means to be a PR freelancer with new connections made.
The comments from winners afterwards can be summed by one of the winners who wrote “I have found my tribe”.
Founder of the PR Cavalry Nigel Sarbutts in his speech to the assembled winners, judges sponsors (72 Point) and supporters The CIPR the PRCA and PRovoke Media said
“The Independent Impact 50 is a firm rebuttal of the outdated idea that freelancers are ‘hired hands’ to add a bit of tactical resource. These are high-impact practitioners focused on demonstrable results, for whom there’s no hiding place and no-one else to blame. Clients love that commitment.
“They have chosen to step away from the corporate ladder to work directly with clients who value what they do, not who they work for. The mega-trend away from big retainers towards the idea of experts tackling specific issues is permanent and The Independent Impact 50 shows that the talent is there to respond to that demand.”
Turning to the make up of the winners Rod Cartwright said
“The list reveals an independent communication sector packed with seasoned, highly-skilled experts, dedicated to their clients and the broader industry, and dominated by senior female practitioners. At the same time, it once again appears to highlight starkly the extent to which intersectional biases – including those relating to ethnicity, gender and age – still dog the industry.“
Work is now underway to build on the extraordinary sense of community amongst freelancers that has been created by the Independent Impact 50 to ensure that PR freelancers and independent consultants are properly recognised for the skills and contribution to their clients and the PR sector more broadly and The PR Cavalry will be right at the front of those efforts.
